Every vice is troublesome in its own way. When it comes to smoking, you should be mainly concerned about things that you don’t see. You see, the thing with smoking is that it doesn’t have such a strong and noticeable impact like other forms of addiction. While it is rather easy to notice a drunk man, it isn’t so easy to realize that someone is smoking too much.

Making a long-term plan
There are some people who can simply quit smoking and never do it again. However, majority of smokers will try to do it numerous time and constantly relapse. This is because they need an additional nudge to help them along the way. Long term plan is crucial for such individuals as it programs their day and improves their environment. In most of the cases reason for relapsing is due to being overexposed to cigarettes or having a lot of smoker friends around you. This is why you need to think about your goals, how to accomplish them and how to avoid things that can pull you down.
Do not be angry if you don’t make it at first
As I already said, relapsing is common when it comes to smoking. In other words don’t be angry or feeling down if you don’t manage to pull it off at once. Reducing cigarettes is also good. The most important thing is to try to eliminate them from your life and to realize all the negative consequences that come with them.
Consider something else
Instead of going for classic cigarettes you might as well try and smoke e-cigarettes. This isn’t ideal solution but it will at least reduce your craving and give you something to do with your hands. It is also a healthy solution given that e-cigarettes use vape liquid which is much better than nicotine.
Focus on your family
Smoking doesn’t take a lot of time; you can light one whenever. However, if you’re constantly busy or preoccupied about something else, you won’t have so much desire or time to think about them. One of the best things you can do during this period is to focus on your family. Not only will they provide the necessary support but you will be doing something good instead. They can warn you whenever you have craving imposing another roadblock.
Cigarettes and sports do not mix. It is really hard for an active smoker to do perform any physical activity. On the flipside, once you start exercising, it becomes increasingly hard to start using cigarettes and tobacco. You may consider this during quitting period. Start training, become a member of a sport club and focus on health.
Each day put aside some money; money that you would otherwise have used for smokes. This money should be tucked away. Whenever you feel stressed, take that money and use it to treat yourself. Although you won’t be saving anything, you will still have a system for copying with stress and remaining positive.
Get a pet
Having a small, baby pet is another way to be preoccupied. Of course, you should get a pet just because you need to quit smoking. Instead, get one if you’re willing to seriously commit. Still, if you every thought about it, this is the perfect time to do it.
Change curtains and upholstery
This might seem strange but it works. You need to remove anything and everything that reminded you of cigarettes, their taste and smoke. This includes curtains and upholstery. The smell tends to linger within the fabric and sooner than later it will affect you. By cleaning your home not only are you protecting yourself but also letting your brain know that without smokes you will live in a nicer, cleaner environment.
